Recent Georgia machinery & equipment appraisal observations –

M&EAA recently appraised the machinery & equipment of related kaolin processing facilities in Georgia.

Kaolin is white clay that is chemically inert, nonabrasive and possesses a number of characteristics that make it desirable for use in a wide range of industries. These industries include paper and paperboard, paints and coatings, wire and cable, concrete, plastics and agriculture among. The primary use of kaolin is in the paper industry.  It serves as a paper coating which improves appearance by contributing to brightness, smoothness and gloss.  It also improves printability.  Additionally, it is used by the paper industry as filler, reducing cost and the reliance of wood based resources.

The subject machinery & equipment included but was not limited to: crushers, vibratory screens, blungers, centrifuges, evaporators, attrition mills, storage tanks pumps, silos, rail car unloading equipment, hoppers, conveyors, vibratory separators, blending equipment, metal detectors, super sack filling & weighing equipment, wheel loaders, forklifts, over the road trucks & trailers, ship loading equipment, quality control equipment, etc.

Kaolin production is closely tied to the paper product manufacturing industry. Improvements in consumer spending and rising paper product prices have greatly improved revenue for the industry over the last few years. Demand for paper products used to package food service items limits revenue volatility for the industry, as these are relatively non-discretionary products. The forecast for the industry and revenues is stagnant to good.

The appraised values of the subject kaolin processing machinery & equipment was based on the type, age, condition, size or capacity, design, function, utility, and overall anticipated market appeal of the subject items.

Based on the good overall condition of the machinery & equipment population, current positive economic considerations, and strong secondary market appeal, the appraiser concluded favorable values for the subject items.
