Waste Disposal & Recycling Equipment Appraisals

The subject machinery & equipment appraised included vacuum distillation systems and related equipment, storage & blending tanks, vacuum trucks & tank trailers, portable parts washers, brake washers, paint gun cleaners, over the road trucks & trailers and other material handing and support equipment.

Appraisal Conclusions: the subject company is located in a highly industrialized area, and demand for services continues to grow. The values concluded for the subject items were predicated on the type of machinery & equipment, and other factors such as age, condition, function, utility, and overall anticipated market appeal. The concluded values were very favorable, specifically due to the good condition and anticipated market demand for a majority of the subject items. 

Scrap Metals Recycling Equipment Appraisals

M&E Appraisal Associates, Inc. (“M&EAA”) provides certified scrap metals recycling equipment appraisals. M&EAA recently appraised the machinery & equipment of a ferrous and non ferrous scrap metals recycling company.

The subject machinery & equipment appraised included hydraulic shears (fixed and portable attachment types), balers, hydraulic excavators and material handlers, wheel loaders, skidsteer loaders, forklifts, over the road trucks and trailers, roll off equipment, and roll off conatiners typically ranging from 10 to 40 cubic yard capacities.

Operators in this industry are engaged in the collection, processing and recycling of ferrous metals, such as iron and steel, and nonferrous metals, such as aluminum, copper and nickel. The typical recycling process involves sorting, shearing, shredding, torching and baling scrap metal to be sold to downstream metal smelters for further processing.

The scrap metal recycling industry has been exposed to the ups and downs of the global economy over the past five years. While the industry continued to improve through 2011 and 2012, domestic and international demand conditions have softened and the industry has yet to reach its prerecession heights. However, the industry is expected to experience a less volatile period over the five years to 2020 as metal price fluctuations are anticipated to stabilize.

Appraisal Conclusions: the values concluded for the subject items were predicated on the type of machinery & equipment, and other factors such as age, condition, size or capacity, design, function, utility, and overall anticipated market appeal. Furthermore, the economic factors discussed were also considered. The concluded values for the subject machinery & equipment were very favorable, as of the effective date of the appraisal.

Automotive Collision Repair Equipment Appraisals

M&E Appraisal Associates, Inc. (“M&EAA”) provides certified automotive collision repair equipment appraisals. M&EAA recently appraised the machinery & equipment of an automotive collision repair facility.

The subject machinery & equipment appraised included large capacity paint prep and spray booths, frame machines, tire changers, wheel balancers, laser balancing equipment and systems, refrigerant recycling equipment, automotive lifts, welders, forklifts, and associated support equipment.

Appraisal conclusions: the subject equipment included a Garmat large capacity, multi section downdraft type prep/paint spray booth-system. Other higher value items included Chief, Blackjack and Brewco frame machines, Chief laser alignment equipment, Coats and John Bean tire changing and wheel balancing equipment, etc. The subject machinery & equipment was considered to be very standard for the industry, had reasonable secondary market demand and was observed to be in good condition. Resultantly the subject machinery & equipment had a favorable determination of Fair Market Value.

Stevedoring Equipment Appraisals

M&E Appraisal Associates, Inc. (“M&EAA”) provides certified stevedoring equipment appraisals. M&EAA recently appraised the machinery & equipment of a stevedoring company operating at a large port on the northeast Atlantic coast.

The subject machinery & equipment appraised included large capacity ship to shore cranes, loaded container handlers, empty container handlers, container reach stackers, container and chassis trailers, yard trucks, over the road vehicles, and associated support equipment.

Appraisal conclusions: the highest value items were the large capacity ship to shore cranes. These subject items were contemplated “as-is”, installed and considered for continued us. If these items were contemplated on a removal basis, they would have little to no value due to excessive removal costs. The other high value items specifically included the newer 5-high stacking container handlers and reach stackers.

Forging Equipment Appraisals

M&E Appraisal Associates, Inc. (“M&EAA”) provides certified forging equipment appraisals. M&EAA recently appraised the machinery & equipment of a forging company who is a provider of parts primarily utilized by the agricultural equipment manufacturing industry.

The subject machinery & equipment appraised included large capacity drop forging hammers, forging presses, induction furnaces, and gas fired slot furnaces. Other subject machinery & equipment appraised included CNC machine tools, standard machine shop equipment, custom manufactured assembly machines/cells, material handling equipment, forklifts, and other related warehouse & support equipment.

Appraisal conclusions: the forging presses were older, and had limited market demand, particularly under the removal value concept contemplated. The subject assets inherently had much higher valued when considered in place/for continued use. Forging dies have no value (scrap) in liquidation. When considered for continued use, the dies had extremely high values.

Metal Stamping Equipment Appraisals

M&E Appraisal Associates, Inc. (“M&EAA”) provides certified metal stamping equipment appraisals. M&EAA recently appraised the machinery & equipment of a metal stamping company who is a provider of parts primarily utilized by the automotive industry.

The subject machinery & equipment appraised included large capacity presses ranging from 300 to 1,600 ton capacity. Many of the presses included coil steel feeding equipment, as well as automated parts feed/discharge systems, and die loading/unloading systems. Other subject machinery & equipment appraised included CNC machine tools, standard machine shop equipment, custom manufactured assembly machines/cells, material handling equipment, forklifts, and other related warehouse & support equipment.

Appraisal conclusions: the automobile metal stamping business is a very capital intensive industry. Recent higher level demand for cars and trucks has spurred automakers to ramp up production, a trend that benefited automobile metal stamping operations. The continued uptrend in the demand for automobiles, coupled with the good coverall condition of the subject stamping presses resulted in very favorable appraisal conclusions for the subject machinery & equipment.

Injection Molding Machine Appraisals

M&E Appraisal Associates, Inc. (“M&EAA”) provide certified injection molding machine appraisals and plastics manufacturing equipment appraisals. M&EAA recently appraised the machinery & equipment of a manufacturer of plastics components.

The subject machinery & equipment appraised included injection molding machines, blow molding machines, rotary & inline thermoforming machines, resin weigh & transfer equipment, resin dryers, granulators, mold & water temperature controllers, chillers & cooling towers, forklifts, and other related warehouse & support equipment.

Appraisal conclusions: the subject higher value machinery & equipment included injection molding machines ranging from 100 to 660 U.S. tons, dual shuttle blow molding machines, and various types of thermoforming machines. These subject items were considered to be very industry standard, and usable and desirable to other end users due to their type, size, age, and condition. The company’s molds were considered and valued under the premise of continued use by another manufacturer. The molds would have no value or scrap value if not contemplated for continued use. 

Mail & Parcel Service Equipment Appraisals

M&E Appraisal Associates, Inc. (“M&EAA”) provide certified mail & parcel service equipment appraisals. M&EAA recently appraised the machinery & equipment of a high volume mailing services provider.

The subject machinery & equipment appraised included mail inserters, mail sorters, ink jet marking & tabbing equipment, folders, printing presses, envelope printers, computer equipment, forklifts, and other related warehouse & support equipment.

Appraisal conclusions: the subject higher value machinery & equipment includes inserters which fill the mailers and sorters which imprints and sorts the filled mailer based on various reporting, tracking, coding, zoning and other requirements. All sorters are state of the art, high volume machines capable of sorting 25,000 to 40,000 pieces per hour, which is necessary to satisfy demanding customer mailing requirements. Original equipment manufacturing sources indicate that the subject items are considered to be state of the art, and directly comparable to machinery & equipment being built today. This is of particular importance for the high volume sorters, where the load end computers, cameras, bar code readers, etc. direct the reporting, imprinting, tracking and other features of the sorter. Based on information provided by the oem’s sources, very favorable values were concluded by the appraiser.

Tire Assembly Equipment Appraisals

M&E Appraisal Associates, Inc. (M&EAA) provides certified tire assembly equipment appraisals. M&EAA recently appraised the machinery & equipment of a national tire & wheel assembler & distributor.

The subject machinery & equipment appraised included automatic tire inflators, tire changers, tire cutters, wheel alignment systems, wheel balancers, wheel changers, wheel crushers, air compressors & air dryers, forklifts, over the road trucks & trailers, and other related warehouse & support equipment.

Appraisal conclusions: the subject machinery & equipment was inspected by the appraiser. The subject items typically ranged in age from new, to older (5 years in age +). The subject items have a very viable secondary market, and in most cases have alternative uses not limited to tire & wheel assemblers & distributors. Alternative users include all types of automotive repair facilities. The good condition of the subject equipment and the broad market of alternative prospective users resulted in the appraiser deriving favorable valuation conclusions.

R&D Lab Equipment Appraisals

M&E Appraisal Associates, Inc. (“M&EAA”) provide certified R&D lab equipment appraisals. The president of M&EAA, Greg Feinsinger, recently appraised the machinery & equipment of an alternative energy and battery management products manufacturing company.

The subject laboratory machinery & equipment included balances & scales, measuring & test equipment, microscopes, charging stations, power modules & supplies, ovens & furnaces, hardness testers, lab benches & cabinets, welders, material handling equipment, and other general laboratory items.

Appraisal conclusions:  the subject machinery & equipment was inspected by the appraiser. A majority of the equipment was newer, and in very good condition. The equipment is not proprietary, and has utility in an number of related laboratory & test applications. The commanlity of the equipment and the good physical condition of the subject items resulted in favorable value conclusions.
