M&E Appraisal Associates, Inc. (“M&EAA”) provides certified forging equipment appraisals. M&EAA recently appraised the machinery & equipment of a forging company who is a provider of parts primarily utilized by the agricultural equipment manufacturing industry.

The subject machinery & equipment appraised included large capacity drop forging hammers, forging presses, induction furnaces, and gas fired slot furnaces. Other subject machinery & equipment appraised included CNC machine tools, standard machine shop equipment, custom manufactured assembly machines/cells, material handling equipment, forklifts, and other related warehouse & support equipment.

Appraisal conclusions: the forging presses were older, and had limited market demand, particularly under the removal value concept contemplated. The subject assets inherently had much higher valued when considered in place/for continued use. Forging dies have no value (scrap) in liquidation. When considered for continued use, the dies had extremely high values.
